Mattes and Miniatures Visual Effects is headed by VFX Supervisor Leigh Took.Leigh Took has worked in the industry since 1978, starting as an apprentice in Pinewood’s matte painting department, working on films such as Warlords of Atlantis, Octopussy and Clash of the Titans, producing some of the first matte paintings for Imax. As well as being one of a handful of matte painters in the world, he has accumulated over 25 years’ experience in the supervision of miniatures, optical and digital effects on feature films, TV, commercials and pop promo’s.
At Mattes and Miniatures, based at Pinewood and Bray studios, he leads a crew experienced in all aspects of designing, constructing and filming visual effects.
Digital facilities at the Pinewood base combine the best of traditional matte techniques with the new.
The Bray Studios base includes a traditional and glass shot matte painting studio, motion control, model and special effects workshops, and Art Department.
Recent work includes visual effects on Inkheart, The Descent, and models (miniatures) on The Da Vinci Code, Mutant Chronicles, Stardust, Highlander V and Coldplay ‘Talk’ video.
